+1 for GFB respons. Shop around though, prices vary. I got mine off carmodsaustralia lowest price and shipping, somehow cheaper then GFB themselves

I would love to replace my BOV but I don't want one with that 'sneeze' I can't stand it but that's a personal preference...

So if there is a BV out there which is similar noise to stock then please point it out...
Mods on the car already
3" Xforce TBE, Iridum spark plugs, MSR Tune (191KWatw), Alpine Dub Din HU with inbuilt sat nav & bluetooth etc, top of the line memphis speakers including a memphis mojo amp to run it all, Optima Yellow top battery to juice it, TMIC from Jacks-GTB, bigger fuel pump also from Jacks-GTB, Spec.B Badge, Rota Gravels, Brembo brakes, 5% tint all round, currently working on an engine rebuild, NEW STI Shrt Block, forged pistons, bigger head studs and all work done by MSR, Cobb Intake

Mods to come
Un= Headers, Blouche Turbo, MSR Tune, Ohlin Coilys, Whiteline suspension, detail with Opticoat
TBC...

Mine is a plumb back into a pod filter. In my build thread there is a short (and crap) video clip of my car accelerating to exactly the speed limit. You can only just hear the BOV venting when I get off it in 4th, not loud at all. What BOV you go with all depends on if you run a FMIC too. Just make sure the one you get is a recirculated one and you will be in good shape.
Kinda flush. Fitment is something. ADM as F*ck.

If you have the stock air box and full recirc you should be fine for noise.

Thanks for all the help guys. I ended up going with the Turbosmart Kompact Plumb Back BOV for cost and availability. It'll be here tomorrow so I'll post back soon with my thoughts after installation. :)

Good choice.. :good:

Though I might be a little biased.

So how did you go with the new BOV?

Any improvement in drive-ability? How was the noise?
Started with a Gen2 Outback, then got a MY07 GT Spec.B Manual w Cat Back Exhaust and Verso Tuned, now got 2 kids and a MY07 GT Auto Wagon, Ultrex stealth back exhaust, panel filter, Whiteline Sways all round, Spec.b struts and springs and Kido-Tuned.

As far as driveability goes theres no obvious difference at all but the noise is pretty much non existant. I'd even go so fas as to say that I think its quieter than the stock Subaru one. And it holds boost waaaaaayy better! 8)

I just ordered one of the turbosmart kompack's today. I'm 210atw and the stock one has now become restricting and leaking ever so slightly. With a 3" intake and FMIC I found the stock BOV quite loud. Interested to see what the noise difference is with the turbosmart one.

The kompact one is a plumb back to the air intake box so it should be pretty quiet although if you have a massive intake thats not in a box it might be a different story. And it'll prolly be even louder again if you've taken out the intake reservoir.

I have a box around the pod filter. Didn't make any noise difference when I installed it.

The stock one is 100% air back into the intake correct? It's just a cheap design and doesn't flow very well once you start turning the boost up?

At what power level does the stock BOV become a hindrance?
