Will a faulty knock sensor cause false knock?

Intriguing! Reading the various threads I had thought the knock issue was due to a mechanical issue.

So did I...which is why I was stressing out so badly. It always was always a bit strange though as other than the logs, in stock condition the car drove really nice and cleanly. I never really noticed any flatness in the power caused by timing retard...it was only really noticeable in the tactrix logs.

Anyway, it was a happy ending.

Nah, the engine noise is normal as I found out (3 mechanics consensus) later. It was XRT telling me my engine was going to die that made me overreact and panic about the noise.

(Other problem is our family car is a Lexus RX330, so comparing the two makes the lib sound like a tractor. )

Agreed, my idle sounds a little clattery, assured its normal, get a louder zorst or turn up the music!

How did you actually fix the waste gate chatter after diagnosing it?

My idle got somewhat quieter after replacing the cracked oil filler lower o ring.
Some of the noise was crank case blow-by choofing out of the leaky o ring maybe...
