If I wasn't logging the tune I'd not have noticed!
But for the shuddering off idle there are no noticeable symptoms but it would affect fuel economy slightly.
So diagnosis & research...
I may remove the cam belt cover to inspect the timing mark alignment on the cam belt if not too difficult to DIY.
I'm following JDCs avcs diagnosis with some interest too.

Indeed! Well... I'm taking the "if it aint broke dont fix it" approach... Its me thats broke! :-)

For anyone interested in assisting with my diagnosis here's some logs to take a peek at. http://we.tl/qfukZoagYP
Best viewed with MegaLogViewer Lite...
The first is immediately after an ECU reset, the second after keying off and doing the return freeway run.
I reset the ECU as I pulled the plugs to remove and identify the tapped wire.
Luckily it was to the right plug and only a wire for a warning light in the dash.

I'm logging:
Time (msec)
Engine Speed (rpm)
Ignition Total Timing (degrees)
Intake VVT Advance Angle Left (degrees)
Intake VVT Advance Angle Right (degrees)
Vehicle Speed (km/h)
Intake OCV Current Left (mA)
Intake OCV Current Right (mA)
Intake OCV Duty Left (%)
Intake OCV Duty Right (%)
Neutral Position Switch (On/Off)

Am I missing any relevant parameters?
Neutral Position Switch seems to work ok so I may log Acc Angle so I can see if cruise control is a factor.

What is the relationship of Ignition Total Timing to Intake VVT Advance Angle?
OCV current and duty are well matched per side but there is a consistent difference to the L & R OCV current levels (when not totally out of sync).
Why would one side be getting less current? (inspect wiring/plugs in engine bay).
Why is Intake VVT Advance Angle sometimes inverted to the current?

Jaydece got his issue sorted with soleniod replacement - inspection is next on my list.

If anyone can provide a log with the above parameters or similar, I'd be most appreciative.

Are they left and right solenoids?

Yep l&r everything... :D
Fun times, I noticed that the trigger for the vibration is when vvt angle reaches 51 degrees.
9 degrees beyond the actual max angle of 42 degrees. Both sides will do it.

Cheers!
Research continues: low oil pressure from a failing oil pickup can cause mild avcs issues...
As can a flat battery/loose terminals...
But...
I'm taking the lib to docklands tomorrow. They're going to take a look at filters if any, and run the diagnostics if required.
I'm also in the process of organising replacement avcs cam gears with affordable shipping via our USA hq if possible.
I will post a group buy on those when confirmed.
Ill get a quote on a timing belt service & gears replacement from docklands too but so far the most reasonable quotes I've heard of are from Cromwood & MSR.

The Lib is at Docklands under diagnosis.
Huge thumbs up for the service manager at Docklands: Jeremy took time out to listen to where I was at with the car, its mods inc. tune and the possible causes of the issue.

I informed him that there were a few members who are suffering the same issue, e.g. Bruce, Owen, myself, all early postFL GT-B's and thus the need for pinpointing the cause and required repair.

Members who have visited the BBB residence will remember the eyesore, falling to bits, Juliet balconies at the front of the house, now stripped back awaiting new joists and open decking. I'll be adding pics to the DIY home reno thread, statum.

Intriguing, the verdict after diagnostics from Docklands is that the system is working, everything is doing what its being told to!

Meaning I'm going to be:
trying the stock tune once again,
plugging in a spare MY07 ECU (might mean recoding the keys if anyone know how to)
inspecting and cleaning the cam gear sensors,
getting a new tune,
and or ordering new cam gears. :P

they dont log stuff! they would look at there tool it would say everythings within tolorance and send you on your way. i had a feeling they would say its fine, if the engine light was coming on then they would say there is an issue

think you have a few options:

leave it be and stop playing the tuning game.

start replacing things like the cam gears or solenoids

sell car lol
