Well Kieran here's your opportunity to actually do something useful and original. Call any of the engineering companies on that list produced earlier. Mention what sort of modification you'll be doing to the front bumper and crash bar and get an estimate of cost to certify this mod and if it can even be considered legally.

Then publish your research here.

I've done that and can tell you the answer but you'll only say I've regurgitated info from the Internet.

I asked dja to publish the name of the engineer he used and instead he pulls a generic RTA link.

You can be a real douche at times Kieran.

id like to add that even if you get a engineers cert for this work in Vitoria it still doesnt make it legal, you still have to comply with epa regs, i thought u were alowed one or two induction modifications so your pod filter is one if its an oiled type one (panel too) they are ilegal... cooler is another, blow off valve another and bam game over. even if they see the mods they can still send us Victorians to epa testing stations.... so unless you plan on getting a fully complied car ya still fucked!!

if i dont go wta ill be keeping my front mount and fingers crossed i never have issues

looking back you actually did nothing of the sort:
bass_straitener wrote:
Could you please advise who provides engineering approval as it would seem most of the FMIC's are being installed in NSW anyway. Might help them out.

you have been furnished with THE list, not a generic list.

Its a wicked web we weave sometimes.

Something ill add that has not been overly mentioned by team google, or anyone else.
when you remove the crash bar, you can replace it with some RHJ that doesnt protrude as much, and then get your core in, and you then have not removed safety systems, and the air bag sensors still sit in the normal spot, with there structural integrity the same.

Everything i have stated is NSW, i dont live in mexico or elsewhere, so cant comment.

I dont know why this debate always goes on and on, its like apple vs pc, we know pc's are better, but the argument is there(theres some fuel)

i look forward to pedalling of the backwards variety

This type of thread seems to go on and on cause its all about opinions and eveyone has one (and an asshole too apparently!!)

I love FMIC's. For the look, for the extra boost noise and the actual performance beniefit. But thats my 'opinion' and someone will disagree !!! But my car and my dollars!!

Also i do (as stated previously) believe that leaving the crash bar in is vital for all kinds of safety reasons.... Thus i like the avo fmic as that keeps the crash bar.

I have just had the 'pleasure' of fitting my FMIC yesterday. I say 'pleasure' because it was fecking painfull. I had a BOLT ON kit that keeps the factory crash bar. I currently have an intercooler mounted and pipes sitting up into the engine bay but that is it. Started at 10ish and left at 4.30pm. The only thing that lined up was the bolts for the cooler mounting and the pipes (read flexable pipes). There was sooo much to be cut/moved/turned and its still not hooked up as the hard pipe on the battery side is completly wrong. Even though the manufactor , who will remain nameless, said that it fits 04-09 GT's.

I now have to make up a new spacer (got an engineer mate for that) to get the crash bar back on and some more cutting of the bar to make it 'FIT', but it is a 90mm core so its a decent size. Yey!!! Do like the look tho

AVO huh

I didn't think there was a bolt on kit because I have done this research and spoken to a few different people...it might be bolt on in the states but definitely not in Australia...

Good luck with it though man, the good thing is that your engineer mate can sign off on it all?
