Defi Gauges for the car...

Postby WhiteGTB » Sat Jul 18, 2009 6:24 am

Been thinking about getting some gauges for the WHITEGTB for a little while now... and if I plan ahead properly then when the self imposed ban of "no more mods" is lifted in about 3-6months, I'll just go to Phat and say "please sir, can I have some more?" (Oliver Twist)

LOL!! anyways, doing my research and damn, there are so many different options out there and looking for some help in deciding which one for later down the track.

Which one would you have in your car and why?
Turbo kPa
Intake Manifold Press. kPa
Oil Press. kPa
Fuel Press. kPa
Oil Temp.
Water Temp.
Exhaust Temp.
Tachometer

I'm thinking only two for my car, I can't fit anymore then that in the cubby pod. Nice and discreet, I can close it when the wife is in the car.

High on the list if the Turbo and Oil Press. Any others worth considering?

This is what I am looking at Defi Gauages The Amber Red or White Model to suit the current interior.

I got..........
Boost, cause its nice to see if you spike boost ect and is just fun to watch.
Oil Temp, When it gets a bit hotter I just back off for a while.
Oil Pressure, Was good when I knew my FMIC pipes were blowing off :) :(

Have fun Trying to find a nice place if you want 3. Stupid Defi link meter thing. Lucky for WRX they make a spot for them but not the LIberty's. :assassin:

Ps get the Blue Ones they are a little extra but are so sweet to look at. Ohh also you will need a switch to turn them off. As the Oil Pressure one beeps to let you know you have no pressure, durrrrr.

Get a monster tacho bro! fully sik hey.

Get the white Defi gauges, they match best with the interior of your car.

Boost - a must
Oil pressure - somewhat irrelevant if you ask me, by the time you notice the oil pressure dropping significantly, it's far too late already.
Oil temp - good to know when your oil is at its peak operating temperature, and when it's past its peak
EGT - good if your tuner tunes using that method
Water temp - you already have one?
Tacho - as above
Speedo - as above
Intake manifold pressure - that's the 'boost gauge for non-turbos'.

My theory is, if you don't know what the gauge does, don't bother wasting your money on buying it as it's an expensive item just for show. Spend the money on buying a nice watch instead. Much more noticed.

Definitely go the BF series Defi Boost, oil temp and oil pressure or water temp. If you get carried away like i did, you can do this??? (a sample of what happens when u match the rest of the dash with same colour gauges :D )
