AVO turbo inlet pipe - who's installed one?

I've had two tries at installing this pipe - everything seems straight forward except for removing the bov return pipe at the std inlet pipe (the spring clamp is really hard to get to) and i can imagine how hard it would be to get it back on to the AVO pipe...

Does anyone have any experience with this?

you mean the clip holding the hose on to the collar?

just snap it off and repalce it, it may be hard due to age and temperature exposure.

btw what have you got, the ej20 or 25t

I think he has the 2.5t. Good luck, Mo! I have yet to know of anyone who has successfully installed either a Perrin or AVO turbo inlet pipe that was originally designed for the North American Legacy due to small variances.

No thats not it - its actually reaching the damn spring clip and having enough room to be able to get it off...

Its a 2.5.

The Perrin one i know is not perfect, the AVO one lines up really well and all the connections are perfect for the AUS cars but getting the std pipe off is another story...

Hahaha! see, i can yank it out of there, but the question is how do i put it back on the AVO pipe...

I might have one more try before getting a workshop to do it.

I've done it on a couple of wrxs. It would have been easier to rebuild the gearbox.

so its a access issue, is it worth just cutting the hose and replace?

i am guessing you have already tired using a long nose pillar to get at it.

Third try was still a no go.

I managed to remove the std pipe and actually fit the AVO one but its not a great fit!!!

Will have to send AVO some pics and see if there's something i'm doing wrong...

Btw,
need some help guys:

In the pic below i've circled the third sensor on theis bracket just over the intake pipe.

This sensor sits right under the manifold and there are two hoses attached to it. One hose goes to the inlet pipe (ie towars the left on the pic) and the other one toward the right. Can someone please tell me which is which?

Does the hose on the left nozzle on the sensor go to the inlet pipe?

Yeah, got it to fit. I had to trim the AVO pipe very carefully at a slight angle on the turbo side to get the correct tolerences at the other end (near the nozzels) right. But still somehow managed to over cut it and there is a slight gap between the end of the pipe and the turbo's 'ridge" part.

All the hoses have been on the car since then without any problems!

What sort of real world gains did you get out of this?
I haven't read up at all on the whole theory behind these pipes, not quite sure what it's exactly doing with these little nozzles?

A few KW of power according to AVO but since i didn't do a dyno before and after, who knows... Did notice that car got quite a bit more responsive with the bigger hose.

Improving airflow from the air filter to the turbo has to be good

Its just a fitment issue.

I noticed SFA gains, even after a tune. Having said that, the stock turbo on the auto 2.0T has reached maximum potential already

Nice turbo spool noise though.
