Power Steering Pumps

Postby Boostaddict » Mon Feb 03, 2014 11:38 am

Hey Fellow Libitarians

It looks like my power steering pump is packing it in. I know they aren't a cheap thing to replace.

Any ideas on where to buy?? Ive emailed Celtic motorsports as they were the cheapest with my engine stuff.

Is there an aftermarket one that is better cause I think 93k isn't alot and should last longer then that with the OEM.

Just get it reconditioned as this will be the cheapest option. Not too sure who could do it in Syd though.

From what I've read on LGT and nasioc etc, the o rings in the ps lines near the pump need replacing, then flush the fluid.
If that doesn't work go the rebuild as per Owens suggestion.

I'm looking into adding a 2 or 4 row ps cooler for good measure :)

Actually I just saw what Celtic can supply for. Wouldn't be worth the time and effort to save a few bucks. If they are supplying a brand new genuine pump I'd definitely be going with that.

(I would have charged u $400 and had it back to you looking like brand new, 1 day turnaround time). I rebuilt jaydece's pump and as far as I know he's been happy with it. Being in Sydney though, it makes it less worthwhile.

No this was happening before. The "vibration" has been happening for a month or 2 before the build. And it whines on cold start revs .

He cleaned it up and looked at the hoses etc.... its better but not great.

Hey Dan did you end up getting one from Ultimate Power Steering? If so how did it go? My power steering pump's leaking too, not sure if I should risk getting a 2nd hand one for half the price and deal with possible issues or just buy that one new.
