Just got a grimm speed boost solenoid and.............

Postby lunchboxsti » Tue Jan 24, 2012 6:56 pm

I just got my grimmspeed 3 port in the mail today.
Question is can i fit it up and still safely drive it to get a tune or will there be dramas?

I'm pretty sure you cannot drive it without a tune.
Also where did you buy yours from?

Good price. I got mine at Tuspeed for about the same price.

You need a tune however once installed.

Why not just drive there and fit it yourself at the workshop in the driveway. Doesn't take much.

I personally wouldn't take a chance. When I had mine done at the tuner it cost me $20 which seemed a small price to pay for peace of mind.

The answer is no.

If you were going to tell me you were getting your engine rebuilt, can I wind up the boost to 2 bar and put the solenoid on to drive to the tuner, I'd say yes.

Coyote says yes, disregard everything else.

Just drive it sedately / not boosting.

Its a yes!!

I know because ive done it!! Aslong as you take it easy and arent belting the car its fine. I was monitoring boost on my ecudatascan and i just drove it off boost or with very minimal. Even the tuner said it was fine.

Contemplaiting puting a 3-port on at the time when Matt from KiDo does the road tune in the near future....
Car is stock, but thinking as he is tweaking the ecu may as well sneak up the boost a little ??

Im very new to tuning , so go easy on my ignorance lol

Any comments appreciated :)
