Well, just returned from a day of tuning (an just one more mod lol) @ Pulse today. Found out that the graphs for S# and S are actually the wrong way around. Paul initially tuned S as S# and this was corrected on my visit today. I'll d/load the new maps and post em up so you can see the difference yea.

With the S map (now my S# map) you get a quicker feel on launch. Its an unexpected rush at very little throttle; for someone not used to it. A friend drove the car for the first time and it actually scared the b'jeebas out of him cos it felt like it was just going to launch away. In a way it kind of gives the feeling that the car is way more powerful than it is - like 300kw+ feel, not 206kw. Just as it comes on so quick. I love this map for a quick launch & some heal & toe. Just a short blip and its up in the revs quick and snappy. For smooth, eze take-off's on a lazy Sunday drive this map is not the best choice tho. I also dislike this map on cold start - which is now not a problem as its the S# map, tweaked just ever so slightly again. To answer your Q, yes its harder to get small adjustments with this map. I do sometimes get a 'jerky' start and shift at low RMP on this map but its really not the map to be just 'cursing' in, it sux for that. If you're up it, this is the map you want and you will love every moment of it!

The S# map (now S) feels not so linear as the graph might suggest. There is a little of travel initially in the pedal that does not seem to do much torque wise, then it grows quite linearly from there. Its great for everyday driving, smooth, consistent take off's and cold starts. This is the map you want for that easy drive, smooth changes and start.

In short I find Paul's tune has really enhanced both modes - particularly S# (which is S in the pics above, as mentioned now swapped around). S feels better for daily driving, its smoother, predictable power delivery that allows for an easy take off & smooth gear changes. S# really makes the car feel alive, take off is quick, responsive & fast. Heal and toe is a breeze. S#, with 206kw is just thrilling to drive. S# feels nothing like the factory map.

On a separate note, after reading some posts on the STI quick shifter and trying a Lib with one I was sold on the idea! Its a sweet thing that short shifter. For something you use, so much, every time you drive its a neat little driving pleasure you just enjoy over and over. Shifts are shorter, about half that of the normal shifter. Shifting is quicker and smoother & just downright more fun! As you move from 1st to 6th, each gear is very close, easy to find and just in the place you expect it. Its like you just notch each gear into place, without it feeling 'notch' in any way. I think all who have had this fitted have good things to say about it and I can see why!

I just posted my final Dyno results & mod list on the thread titled: 'Pulse Tuned - Dyno Sheets Please.' in the 2.5T engine specific topic. I'll post them here too, just to update & give a little closure to this thread. Kinda went from ideas to mods to results - nice! Thx all for your interest & suggestions hey!
