AD08R vs Pilot Sport 4 S

Postby slipperysnake » Thu Jun 17, 2021 6:07 pm

Good evening everyone,
As mentioned, I am after opinions on which is the superior tyre. Will be used for daily/mountain run activities and possible track days here or there. I am open to other suggestions however I think that these are the two best options to suit the criteria. Thanks

Sorry I haven't used the ADOs but we have the pilot sport 4s on my wifes WRX and my daughters and also on my sons Sti for his last set and they are a good tyre but he has gone back to the RE003s and when my Lib and my rex need new tyres they will both be going on RE003s as well. Great tyre for all conditions with no surprises in the wet. All our cars will be running RE003s eventually unless someone makes as good or better for around the same price. good time to be buying and the tyre shops are happy to take your money and let you go back in 6 months and have them fitted. We have done this in the past on a couple of occasions. Good when you get 4 for the price of 3..

PS.. not a good plan to have 2 threads with the same title at the same time. Gets a bit confusing.

What’s turning you away from the PS4s stifull? I run RE003s (+1 vote) but was thinking of giving the PS4s a shot next time. They seem to be about as popular as each other.

The AD08R's will stick like all hell...... so long as you get them up to temp, which can take a while. They are the only so called 'track' based road tyre I have ever had that behaves like a track tyre.
For day to day driving and the odd spirited run, the RE003's are a better option. They will out grip a cold AD08R in the dry, are way ahead in the wet plus I think they are the best 'bang for buck' tyre around at the moment.

Appreciate all of the input guys, I ended up going with the AD08R and can confidently say that I have made the right choice. They grip like nothing else and suit my application perfectly. Cheers guys :)

The RE003s will give you warning that they are getting to their limit and they are predictable especially in the wet. The PS4s will just let go without warning. I put another set of RE003s on my Lib GT a couple of weeks ago. Awesome tyre.
