Car not making target boost after tune.

Postby Legacylad » Thu Dec 12, 2013 5:40 pm

So my car is an 07 GT-B auto, only mod is a TD05-16g.
I recently had Matt (KiDo) tune my car and while we were giving it a run and doing some logging we noticed that it was only making around 13 psi boost in both sport and sport# modes. Apart from that the car is running great. Very stable and consistent boost, no spiking, making really good power.
Target boost in sport# is from memory around 16-17 psi with Matts tune, but it won't reach that boost so we figured it must have a boost leak or maybe the boost pressure was causing the wastegate to open prematurely as there was no restrictor pill in the vac lines.
So starting with the easiest, I put in a restrictor pill with an aperture of 0.9mm between the compressor housing and the T-piece to see what would happen. Now I am getting around 14.5 psi peak boost in both sports and sports#, but still not 17 psi.
The question is should I go a smaller aperture restrictor pill or keep checking for boost leaks or is the stock boost solenoid not up to it and should I think about a 3 port boost solenoid?
Any suggestions or ideas would be welcome.

Leave the restriction pills alone, well, as they were when Matt had the car. Go looking for a boost leak. Also, if you have the ability to do so, run a learning view to make sure it is all okay.
Kinda flush. Fitment is something. ADM as F*ck.

There wasn't any restrictor pills when Matt was in the car. He suggested to put one in, and when I did I got an extra 1.5psi in boost. Wouldn't that point to it being a wastegate issue rather than a boost leak?

When you purchased the turbo, what actuator size did you request?

Turbo was already on the car car when I purchased it and previous owner wasn't very helpful with that sort of information, so I'm unsure about the actuator.

Have you checked the blow off valve?... Theyre known to leak boost sometimes... Pretty cheap to replace too.
