US 07 spec.B -> liberty spec.B STI idea

Postby underdog1425 » Sun Nov 06, 2011 3:33 pm

Hey all,

Another lurker turned poster. I have an 07 legacy gt spec.B, and am considering the possibility of part compatibility from the 07 GTB STI.

I should clarify right off the bat, USDM car. USDM person :D I know shipping would murder me but we just don't have these cars in the states, so subaru of america won't hear a thing from me.

My 'goal' is to turn my car into a sort of STI / S402 hybrid, because we didn't get either of those in the states and while I do want to mod, I really love subaru and STI and want to stick to the roots so to speak. The parts exist, its just a matter of the footwork to obtain them.

So I guess one reason I am posting is that I am not sure of I have a pre or post 'facelift' MY07.

And I just realized I am terrible and have no direct front on shots of the car. Sigh.

Things I am interested in getting for the car:

STI strut bars (F&R?), lower arm bar, endlinks, lateral links, brakes (depending), front lip, springs (I already have bilsteins [jdm GT rev C came on ours]), mufflers, mesh or honeycomb grille, engine cover??,

I pretty much went from the list here in terms of STI parts.

As far as S402 goes....thats a whole different creature =/

So I guess I am looking for identifying of my vehicle, and anyone's opinions on part compatibility from the sti list linked above.

You have a prefacelift, easiest way to tell is the head lights and tail lights.

Is it just me or does the USDM front bar seem to stick out more? Different impact design rules ect?

Agreed on that lol. I really love the jdm style front, haven't really spent too much time worrying about the rear short of a trunk lip.

So pre facelift. Gotchya.

you would need to swap the front and rear bumpers too, to go for the STI look as those USDM bumpers are just huge in comparison!

If your still keen on this project I may be able to source you a set of Sti springs with Bilstiens.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me, would a usdm grille (in particular, this http://www.rrevsports.com/p_pro_grilles.htm) fit into the AUS liberties?
