Service timing help please

Postby CAAD7 » Mon Aug 19, 2013 12:54 pm

I recently bought my MY07 Spec B manual with 55,000k on it. The previous owner had the car serviced about every 9-10 months at Subaru by the log book. So, the 112,500km interval has been done, with the timing belt at 125,000 up next. Can I get some advice on whether it's worth doing now or say in another year (or more)? I only do about 10,000k per year, so I will never ever hit the intervals myself either.

Also, if I don't drive short distances (>15km each time and avg speed >60kph) or get stuck in traffic, do I need to service every 6 months or will every 12 suffice? I won't be driving it like a maniac either, and I let it warm up before it moves anywhere.

There is probably a thread on what engine oil people use somewhere, if someone has the link, could they post it?

Thanks all!

I'd say at least do the oil every 6 months or 5000 km whichever comes first.

The other scheduled service requirements are probably less of an issue if you get to them on the 12 monthly.

But timing belt should be done when recommended as a failure is bad.

It also depends on whether you want to keep the service log book up to date.
