OK, that was fun. Not.

Spec.B had a battery replacement recently, and because my map CD isn't the whole satnav program (that's only on the original DVD that came with the car), had been running without satnav for a while.

This morning I removed the maps DVD, put the original DVD into the drive, got the satnav system booted, removed the original DVD and went to put the maps DVD in - and because I was working blind (sitting in the driver seat, leaning over to the passenger side), managed to miss the drive slot and instead slide the DVD between the drive and the top of the glovebox.

Woops.

So I had to try to get it out again. And wasn't that a PITA.

I wanted to avoid removing the whole centre console/dash. I removed the glovebox lid and proceeded as per the pollen filter replacement procedure (viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3773 - mine is disgusting and will be replaced shortly), and could JUST get my fingers wedged in between the fan assembly and the inside of the glovebox.

Fiddled around for about an hour before I could manoeuvre the DVD into a position where I could remove it.

I now have scraped fingers, but the scratched-to-buggery DVD is not rattling around in the dash. :)

I've also just arranged to grab a set of bronze 5EAT Centre Differential bearings as follows:

There's a set of clutch packs for the 5EAT available from overseas as well that I may consider...

Heard awesome things about this, just make sure you order for RHD if you get one.

Don't know if you're aware but I just had the first prototype of this kit installed in my rebuilt box

My trans builder now has all the know-how and special tools to do this

This was the first such kit in the country, and does require specialist knowledge

Pm me if you are after more details and if you would like me to put you onto him

Definitely worth it - loving the trans so far - although cannot yet fully appreciate the benefits as my car isn't fully tuned
