Timing Belt Kit

Postby Jim » Tue Feb 07, 2012 9:05 pm

Guys,

My timing belt is just about due, (moreso overdue) , can someone point me in the direction of an aftermarket kit which will include tensioner and pulleys ect? At this stage i dont think a water pump is necessary.

Just after something that's cheaper than genuine.

Cheers

I quoted an aftermarket kit from Sprints about 18 months ago, everything but water pump. I was quoted $306 at their cost price. I went to work and was quoted $304 at TRADE price. Our cost is approximately $270.

Don't always rule out genuine. ;)

That's an N/A SOHC kit though.

Mines N/A, that'll do me :) Dropz, in your experience, am I better off sourcing the kit myself and supplying it to my mechanic? I don't go to Subaru..

I would get a quote from your mechanic, and from your nearest dealer. However unless you get trade price a dealer won't be any good.

Phat GT could arrange that easily…….

I can’t remember exactly what I paid but I did need up with the Tomei Kevlar belt which was still cheaper than OEM.

Also its worthwhile doing the water pump considering the amount of effort and labour it would take if the pump failed after changing the belt, Phat GT also supplies an aftermarket water pump which has better designed impeller.
Not a soobi anymore, but still slightly dirty
