What can I expect from exhaust and CAI on a 08 Lib GT B?

Postby sti323 » Sat Nov 05, 2011 3:21 pm

Looking for a bit of feedback on what increases to expect from adding a full turbo back exhaust and cold air intake for my 08 Lib GT Spec B auto wagon?

Car has been retuned in standard form by Ray from ART so now wanting to add some other goodies :D

full TBE: increased throttle response throughout the rev range.

CAI...not worth it with stock turbo, apart from the induction sound.... just get a HKS high flow panel filter.

Of course are retune would get the most out of your mods.
Not a soobi anymore, but still slightly dirty

Thanks!!

Been searching for some posts on CAI on the Liberty's as I had heard that they responded will to the intake mod. I was thinking that CAI and exhaust and tune would all complement each other and have been trying to find someone who had done these mods on a 2.5 GT Spec B

You can expect incorrect AFRs.

It had a heap of fuel pulled out of it as it was typically way rich.

Borrowing a "proper" AFR meter is not a problem when it comes to that.

I have made these mods.
K&N Pod Filter
HiTech exhaust including Dump pipe
STI Docklands Tune

Really happy and no errors or issues to report in 2 years.
Dont think Docklands tune anymore since Vin left but the tune was my last mod which made all the difference. Was running rich prior.
Induction noise could be too loud for some....
Really happy with exhaust note.
Slightly higher fuel consumption.

Let me know if u want more detail.

That was my thinking also, before I went for a hyperflow cai, but with a k&n pod filter on the end of it, rather than the hyperflow pod filter that comes with cai, which is a bit ordinary!

Check them out on their site, good workmanship, very stealth and with it sucking cool air from inside wheelarch rather than engine bay, it's got to be better for compression/combustion.

Then phat dump pipe and 3" tbe really opens up the exhaust and helps clear those gases quickly....but as discussed many times before, you need to get rid of oem cat and get unrestrictive mufflers to make the most of these mods.

Tune those mods in, enjoy the new car you've got, then you're on the way with the mod bug

Happy modding
