hey all,
does anyone elses GT whine when on boost? it's only just started happening (or I've just noticed) ... car is stock as a rock.
I got an alarm installed the other day and its started to happen after that. Maybe they've drilled a few holes through the firewall so the noise can come into the cabin more .. who knows?
I had a Skyline which would whine when on boost but there were no issues with it. It's only that the Lib has only seemed to start doing it now...

I've always had a turbo whine noise.. it's not loud for me. I generally hear it when i first start up the car in the mornings or later in the day when i get back in.. hear it when driving around slowly below 20-40km/h with minimal throttle.

I've concluded that the whine is coming from a hole that the alarm installer has drilled through the firewall. It's actually right behind the turbo, which makes sense.
I got a bit scared at first as I've only had the car for under two months and new noises generally aren't good .. but i got it under some light, popped the bonnet and see the wiring from the new siren go into a hole near the steering column, and I believe the turbo is on the drivers side too...

That's not very neat of the alarm installer if he had to drill new holes...!

You will maybe need to get a gromet (if that's how u spell it lol) and put it to where the hole is.. to close the gap and hopefuly keepo the sound out

its alright .. i dont mind the noise..
it was a bit worrying at first cos it happened after the alarm was installed, but now i know why, and its not the car thats broken.
