can someone help me make my Liberty go fast (05 GT)

Postby bonski » Tue Jun 05, 2007 4:04 pm

OK

I want my liberty to go fast(er)

i have an intake and a cat back exhaust with a hi flow cat but dont know what to do next.

If someone in teh know can make a recommendation, i just want to modify, tune and leave it alone.

Thinking turbo, cooler and ecutek but dont want to lose low end.

Can someone shed light (i want it ultra reliable so conservative tune)

Depends how much u want to spend i guess??

Get a boost controler, turbo back, intercooler (either top mount or front mount, depends which tickels your fanny hahaha, yeah I said fanny :P) down pipe etc..

Or you could mayb start the heads, fuel rails, pistons, cranks, turbo hahahaha :P :D

that easy bonski! ...... go buy yourself a cheap datsun 200B and drive that around for a week everytime you feel your car isnt fast enough. I bet you will definately feel its fast enough after.

hey bonski. I think you need to first make a decision how fast, and how much you want to spend.

I'm aiming for a mid-13 sec quarter to keep up with my friend's standard EVO9 (in a straight line anyway..). Hoping to achieve this with approx 180kw atw - turbo back exhaust, intake, larger intercooler, boost controller (if req'd) and ECU - probably $5,500 worth of goodies. This is on the standard turbo.
Black MY05 Liberty GT. Sti front lip, STi rear spoiler.
Hi-Tech Turbo-back exhaust (with quad tips). HKS Panel filter. Resonatorectomy. SprintBooster fitted.
35mm lower on Pedders Sports Ryder springs. Whiteline rear sway bar. 19" ROH Modenas.

thanks for the reply.

My goals are inline with yours.

So you are going to stay with the standard turbo?

I am happy to spend 5500 if that can get me there.

Which ECU are you thinking about?

regards

Its hard to get a nice note out of the Libertys

yep - I intend to keep the turbo standard unless I come across a great deal later down the track

I used to own a B4 with exhaust, so thought I'd miss the boxer burble, but I now actually like the sound of the Liberty GT exhaust more - its not as intrusive. I have a turbo back exhaust, so it is deeper than the sound of rear mufflers alone.. and I'm really happy with the note. Although I had some issues with the exhaust fitment initially

ECU's i'm considering:
1) waiting for PhatGT to get his reflash software sorted (C&V perform the tune) - will be cheap, but probably a long way away
2) ECUTek reflash through MRT or similar - but they charge way too much
3) Xede piggy back through Tunehouse
4) Haltech Interceptor through Spiro at Autotech

If you were in Sydney I'd let you go for a drive in my car and let you feel if an ECUTEk/Exhaust/CAI upgrade is what your after. If your ever in 'Sydeney'....

yeah - i agree MRT figures always read higher. I think i'll modify to max-out the standard turbo regardless of what the result is... a change in turbo adds *alot* more cost.

Problem I found when wanting to do upgrades to the car was no matter who you go to you don't know what your really getting until it's on your car. It's not a like buying a jumper and trying it on and seeing if it's what you like. I would have thought more people in the forum (same for other car clubs/forums) would be willing to swap rides for a few minutes to see how each modification turns out. It would be the best way of trying stuff out without paying for it. e.g. I would like to feel the ride of same model as my 05 with the bilstien suspension and see if that is too hard or soft.

Obviously this isn't meant for some hoons to take joy rides in your car for kicks.
