Can you guys tell me a little bit more about VF38's.
I have one which has done under 20k's and is in excellent condition. Not sure on their worth but was told this is the forum to come to?
I own a WRX with EJ207 with TD05-20G so the twin scroll did not get the nod although I am told the lag is very minimal and full torque and HP can be established under 3000rpm which sounds astounding.

Hi there,

If you do a search on the vf38 i'm sure you will find some info on it, but we mostly discuss suitability of use for a 'Liberty' so it may be slightly irrelevant to your WRX.

May i suggest you also explore the WRX club forums http://www.wrx.com.au/forum/ as well as this forum to gain the most useful knowledge for your use.

Edit: in regards to your turbo question i'm pretty sure the vf38 came standard on the automatic 2.0T Liberty GT's. It is a twin scroll unit so it may not be a direct replacement on your 01 WRX, but i'm sure someone will be able to comment/confirm this. It isn't the biggest turbo in the world, it is designed for quick spool up (drivability)

By the way, this post may get moved to the 2.0 Turbo section.

Cheers,
Andrew

The VF38 is a small turbo, suited for low end tq, but its too small. The STI's came with the VF36/37. A lot bigger :)
