After I bought my car a few months ago, I noticed this thing sitting in the glovebox. I have no idea what it is or what it's for and thought you guys might have an idea? whatever it is, it doesn't seem to be effecting anything in teh car, maybe it's an old one and has been replaced or something..
Written on it is
88021A6030
068900-4130
DENSO made in japan.

I've tried searching the Denso site, googling those part numbers and combinations thereof but can't seem to find anything that looks like it at all.
Some pics below..

OH MY GOD you've been driving without that part installed???? (I dunno what it is  )

Perhaps is it a pressure sensor or something? Looks like it has fittings for air hoses on it?

hahah yea it looks like it kinda plugs into something on the bottom (?) the bit that extends off has a couple of terminals inside it like it might be a sensor or something?
one side kinda of looks like it might slide into something else as well?

I'll go for angle sensor. They're known for failing due to heat soak.

Its hard to see with those pics, I don't think its a cam or crank angle sensor unless they are a different shape to what I've seen
Its not just the temp sensor is it, up front missing a part ?

Not a crank angle sensor

Yep just checked an old one and it's NOT a crank angle sensor.

i think that is an incorrect part number. is it 88021AG030 if it is it is a seat belt warning buzzer

I think your right shane. I just had a closer look at it. and compared the "6" in the first sequence to that in the one below. the top part extends further on one..

I guess that explains why the seat belt warning buzzer never goes off :)

Thanks heaps for that!

Like many of the other responses here, I do not know what it is either, but I have much more information. If you looked around the car and was frustrated becuase you couldn't find it, no surprise. You have to remove a fender to see it. My daughter hit a deer with her car and I am in the process of repairing it. When I removed the damaged fender I found this sensor? with cracked housing and thought I should replace it, but can't seem to identify it even to just get a price. It was mounted to the frame and (pointed) at the wheel well towards the tire. Inside is a circular metal disc separated by and outer metal ring of the same guage metal by some sort of silicon or epoxy. Attached to the (back) are one wire on each with what appears to be a current limiting resistor. In the (front) of the housing, which is not clear in the pictures, is two holes and the whole thing seemed to be pointing at the wheel. To a degree, it looks like the distance sensor you would find on a camera or many other electronic devices. For now, I am going to replace it with the cracked housing repaired by me, but would still like to know what it is for future reference.

I am driving the car until I have completed the repairs and I can't seem to find anything wrong. It is winter here and we've had over two feet of snow, so I've had plenty of opportunity to use the traction control and the ABS, all seem to be working just fine. I am guessing that it sends out a sonic tone and can somehow either determine wheel rotation speed like sonar or is a pickup for the inflaction sensors. In any case, I too have had no luck finding it by part number. Perhaps what I have shared here will help someone identify this piece.

If it is where you say it is and given the type of sensor I think it is probably the outside temperature sensor for the car airconditioner, or possibly a deer detector, they have a tendancy to be a single use item.
