Stalling up the Auto

Just for interest sake, I thought I would stall the auto while logging to see the benefits of it with regard to take-off..
Results are:

No Stall : -7.5psi manifold pressure
1900rpm: +0.7psi manifold pressure
2200rpm: +2psi manifold pressure
2200rpm: +5psi manifold pressure
2800rpm: +10psi manifold pressure

Morale of the story - with a 3100rpm factory stall converter in the 2.0T auto, 2800-3000rpm launch will give a nice boost buildup before takeoff! :)

Also, being 3100 factory stall, you will get some heat buildup but not excessive as it wont be trying to lock up completely. As long as you don't do this every set of traffic lights, should cool the trans fluid reasonably quickly

Or get a transmission oil cooler

How much boost at 3100rpm?

To answer 2, refer 1
I don't really want to push 3100 without a trans cooler ;)

Jeez!!! At those stall speeds you are well beyond the stall converter lockup speed and would be pumping a shit load of heat into your trans/fluid..... please tell me you have a trans cooler?! (and $$ for a rebuild soon :ninja: )

Great bit of info :D

But I have to say, the auto tranny's do build up more temp then you'd think. When I was fanging around with my mechanic he told me that he was glad I had the larger tranny cooler considering such a short trip resulted in so much heat.

Yes see what happens if I get the same time should run a good time Also if it changes smoothly from first to second will be great but ATM very rare it does have to manual change at 5000 see what happens
