Upper engine cleaner treatment - anyone?

Postby SkoobyGT » Tue Dec 26, 2006 3:20 pm

Hey guys, has anyone had the Subaru upper engine treatment done on their GT?

Its the one where they put that bottle of octane/alcohol stuff on the car and run it and heaps of white smoke comes out when it cleans the engine.

I remember doing it on a car ages ago, but I was wondering if anyone has done it on their GT and if they noticed a difference.

And how much did Subaru charge you?

I have my 75k service coming up now and would like to get it done, as well as everything else.

Regards

Mick

Skooby,

I have had it done on all my Subies at each service for the last 8 years. Seems to help with the car's ability to accelerate smoothly.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Cheers

They put one bottle in when I get my service done and give me another to put in at the half service interval.
Not sure if it does much, but I figure it can't hurt.
From memory they charge something like $10-12 a bottle.

This isn't the stuff that you put in fuel or oil, it's the one where they disconnect fuel lines I think and put the hook the can up and let the car run fully of the bottle, and pours white smoke galore?

Not fuel lines, vaccum lines... And you half empty the can first, wait,
then start the motor and empty the can.

Intake.. I usually put a small screw driver under the main intake (where it goes from the intercooler to the intake), open up the throttle body so it doesn't just spray against the butterfly...

It's good stuff.. I change airfilter and do this every 2-3000 km's..
Gen1, Gen2, Gen3, Gen4.. No mods, honest...
