Hi all,
Just wondering whether anyone could let me know whether it is possible to purchase an aftermarket oxygen sensor for a MY04 GT as the genuine Subaru one is close to $380.

A part number would also be extremly useful.

Is it the front one?

This is known as an a/f sensor and works in a completely different way to the normal oxygen sensors. It is almost a wideband sensor, but not. I have fitted a bosch 4 wire sensor before, and the MIL stayed on until I got the denso a/f sensor fitted.

I ordered mine from the website http://www.rockauto.com in the US. It beats the $$$ that Subaru were asking for.

if you cant find it, use this site to get part numbers and do a search on google.

it appears that most 02 sensors are the same,just with different plugs and number of wires

I think he has an arrangement with HKS. If he mentions HKS 11,983 more times, they'll send his kids through college.

Ive been told I need a Af sensor. I looked on that first site youve listed there and there Liberty is 2.5L for the 2004 turbo car (or at least thats what it says there)

can you tell me what you managed to get the sensor for. Ive been quoted $400 for the sensor and another $200 to fit it.

How much effort would it take to fit it. $200 seems a lot, over 2.5 hours of labour by my reckoning.

Ive booked it in to have it done next Monday. But not with Subaru. Im going to Boxer Service in Brendale (North of Brisbane). Was quoted $525 fitted as opposed to $600 from Subaru.

Ive had a look where the sensor is and it seems easy to access. I reckon its a 10 minute job. The thing holding me back is that you have to reset the ecu (according to Boxer Service)

Can you simply disconnect the battery for a few hours in a Gen4 to achieve this.

Im not a mong when it comes to working on cars but am unfamiliar with the Gen4's, so am hesitant to attempt these things without sound advice.
