Has anyone managed to source an aftermarket 02 sensor for the 2.0 GT?? My car threw a P0031 code tonight so I think the 02 sensor needs to be replaced. Fuel consumption has gone up too.

Spoke to the guys at Pulse and they recommended going with a genuine one. Apparently the aftermarket one's will cause more drama than they are worth and it probably wouldn't clear the error code. Retail for the sensor was $550 from Subaru, ended up getting it for $440. Took less than 30 mins to fit and all is now good :D

For info:
Part no is 22641AA220 A/F ratio sensor

To remove:
Remove intercooler cover
Remove intercooler
Spray fitted sensor with WD40 or equivalent and let sit for 5 mins to penetrate thread
Disconnect sensor plug
Remove sensor with 22mm spanner

To install:
As above but backwards, Sensor thread is pre coated in anti seize (and so it bloody well should be for the price  )

Make sure engine is cold for obvious reasons...........

I've relied on parts warranty four times so far, for the O2 sensor :)

Hey Guys,

Ever tried plugging in those Genuine Subaru part numbers into http://www.amayama.com You might be pleasantly surprised. Also part #22641AA391 replaces original part #22641AA220

If I could be bothered I'd be checking over at http://www.japanparts.com as well to see what their pricing is like. Both ship to Australia at quite a reasonable price.

I am not affiliated with either of these businesses. I just have a very broken Toyota weekend weapon and find these sites very easy to source Genuine parts at much cheaper than local dealer prices.

Check on densoproducts.com , there is a vehicle selector application there, or search Subaru sensor on ebay.
Pretty quickly you'll find out the denso numbers eg 24-9047 and get matches back to Subaru part numbers

Just be aware that model year releases vary slightly from USDM to AUDM

Afr sensor approx $170 landed in au
Rear o2 sensor approx $120 landed

These are both ''drop in" oem replacements made by denso, the eBay stores have photos of the plugs to help your confidence with buying.

Forum member phat also sells sensors at reasonable prices I believe and keeps some stock on hand

Easy to fit yourself as outlined above, any reasonable mechanic should be able to reset the ecu for about $50

Good luck

Thanks for the reply guys!

I've checked all those places out and i will be getting a new one soon (when financially able to).

EDIT!!!!!! the following below did not work... The light came back on after 3 hours of moderately hard driving.

For the mean time though, I did get the engine light to come off by taking off the 2nd O2 sensor and dipping it in Carby cleaner for about 10 mins. Then spraying it until the gunk inside came off. So viola! Engine light is off!

Also did that to the first 02 Sensor close to the manifold, and mounted it with a spacer. (we tried this first because we didnt have a hoist, but it didnt turn off the Engine light). Hope this helps someone.

Hi guys, got a p0031 error and need to replace the o2 sensor. I don't know a lot about cars and will need my bros assistance, but reading this forum definitely helps a lot.

Just wondering where the front sensor (bank 1, sensor 1) is on this engine? Is it easier to get to it from the top by removing the intercooler, as Q suggests in this thread. Or going through the right side wheel well, like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwopG3tMcX0

Cheers.

2L 03-06 GT is intercooler removal. It is right near the brake boost and screws into the dump pipe off the back fo the turbo
