Just wondering if anyone's done water injection on their cars, and if so, what sort of results did you get? Did you get it tuned for the water injection, or was it a safety precaution?

Isn't that just the windshield wiper sprayers, which squirts water onto your front windshield? Not sure about the 2.0, but it comes standard on the 2.5, and I found the results to be quite good. I talked with my tuner and he said a tune was not required.

No, that's water spray. Water injection is water or methanol into the intake chamber, pre/post intercooler, which cools down the actual intake charge into the cylinders. this WILL alter the A/F ratio (some people run methanol to increase the octane of the combustion mixture) and thus can run their fuel very very lean, if tuned properly for it AND as long as the reservoir doesn't run out

Pretty sure methanol & NO2 sprays are illegal... Well that are in NSW anyway

Water spray kits for over the intercooler (That's what you're talking about isn't it?) can be pretty good as a safety precaution.

I believe Cusco make the spray kits & STI actually have a water tank that can be used.

I'm not a brand slart... I don't need it advertised, since I'm not on the HKS payroll. (I knew someone who was though, a while ago)

Bump for an old thread, now that summer's around the corner. Got my hands on a very cheap piece of kit, testing the pump over the next few weeks to see if it'll live up to the job. High pressure, low flow... atomized water into the manifold will help suppress detonation to no end.

Personally, for a street car like your's Clarence I wouldn't bother unless you plan on running 30+ psi of boost. It's just something else you have to fill up and add extra weight.

Agree, plus with ECU tune-ability these days the place for water/methanol injection has dropped away. If anything goes wrong with your setup or run out of water.....BANG!!

When you can fine tune an ECU for virtually any mods - why bother unless you want shite loads of boost

Cooler charge? Get a front mount - or tune and modify for E85 when it becomes avail

I actually looked into these a while ago as they are pretty popular in the US lots of failsafes and the like. With an aftermarket ECU you could in theory switch to a secondary timing or boost map when the fluid level is low.
The big advantage is that you can run a lower octane fuel and reduce your chance of detonation. I think if I'm running 26 psi then its reaching the point where I'm going to get detonation no matter what I do. If I ran the meth setup it moves this figure to say over 30 psi.
I didn't go down this path however as I improved the engines breathing ability with some bigger cams which meant I could run 3 psi less for the same power - actually a lot more power but you get the point. Still its very good for a standard 2.5L donk with the hypercrap pressure cast pistons if you plan on pushing the limit a lot. Detonation kills the 2.5's
