Damn clutch

Postby stocko » Thu Aug 25, 2016 3:45 pm

Hi fellas
So quick question the clutch in my 05 gt manual is on its way out so I started hunting for a new clutch it's had the subaru smf conversion as the old dmf died a few years ago.
Now I've been quoted 1395 buy a very good workshop i get all my work through. This is for an HD clutch with new bearings and a machined fly wheel. I feel like that's a bit heavy I understand there a nightmare to do but do I really need the fly wheel done as its so new. Just want opinions or options.

You can't tell if a flywheel needs machining until you see it.

A workshop will always quote to include it as a rule.

While not always 100% necessary a freshly machined surface provides a better surface for the clutch plate to bed in on.
