rough idle and bad fuel consumption

Hi all,

Bit of background... have a 05 GT Liberty, now with 195,000k's. Developed a rough idle and bad fuel consumption 10,000k ago!
Since then have replaced fuel pump and filter, upper engine clean and injectors cleaned, vac hoses replaced, front O2 sensor replaced, then again 10 months later under warranty, now looks like needs replacing again 6 months later!!

Engine light is on with flashing cruise again!! (less than a week after the service)

Nearly stalling when stationary and fuel is up near 16l/100!

After last service, was told there is a small leak on the turbo return hose and needs hose and clamp replaced.

Question is, could these idle issues be coming from the AVCS issue (clogged banjo bolt) that i read are notorious with this car? If so will that throw the same code as the O2 sensor? Am I changing the O2 senor again for no reason.

Feeling very frustrated, any advice would be great.

Feel your frustration. Could be many things but the CEL + cruise is pointing to O2 sensor. Get leak fixed. Doubt it is AVCS related.

If you can, get hold of a tactrix cable/openport or a btssm adaptor + app for your phone so you can do some logging. It really is the best way to diagnose issues.

You need to log and LV the car.
Especially to diagnose avcs.
Chances are you have an inlet leak.
Start with replacing that throttlebody hose with eg a Kobe silicone item and quality hose clamps ( I used Oetiker stepless).
Consider a silicone inlet too as most 200k stock inlets are torn at the turbo end.
Check the head breather hoses.
Check under the engine cover for any loose hoses and piping, torn inlet, popped seals, etc.
At around 200klm everything starts to break, crack or leak, so a soapy water and or smoke test is a good idea.

If you have funds, seek help from a non dealership Subaru specialist or tuner, If not, reach out here for an experienced member for help, or self educate starting with reading my tune FAQ link in my sig :)

Certainly a tune can help but you'll really need to get your vac and boost piping issues sorted first.
What are the cel codes?
Any mods?

Thanks guys.

I've had the inlet hose replaced with a silicone one.

Probably won't do any logging cos that's out of my expertise, but wouldn't mind getting a code scanner to check/clear codes. Any recommendations for a cheapie? I've seen a few on ebay but don't know if they'll work with the Lib.

If you have android w/ otg then a $20 vagcom and the $20 btssm app gives full ssm and/or can logging and gauges.
See link in my sig.
