I've let one of my trip meters go for a couple of months and it just ticked over 10,000K's back to zero the other day.

During that time I've put many brands of 98 RON fuel in the old girl, and driven hard, fast, soft and slow.

And the average fuel economy came out at......... 9.7 L/100Km.

Not too bad if you ask me.

thats odd. my fuel economy only travels in 0.2's that is on my lib the average will show either 9.6 or 9.8

mine actually displays in Km's/L so that figure was derived from some maths

Travelled from Sydney to Port Macquarie last week, and then back home again, round trip, 795kms on odo, 1 tank of fuel

I can get close to those figures on pure Highway driving. My 10,000K's was probably 60% City and 40% Hwy K's

After about 9900k's in the car (changed to HKS filter and lost the resonator before halfway) I get 8.7km/L or 11.5L/100km. Majority of that is traveling along the Great Western Hwy (overtaking cars to get to the red lights first).

That was before the tune, and it is 1l better on av in the city... I now see figures in the 10s if I'm not right up it...
But with the job he has I guess he drives well within the posted limits and never drives with ' undue acceleration' ..

well as my car displays in km/L and i dont have enough fingures to work out the figures i will just say my car RARELY sees over 380klms to a tank, but thats 95% city/suburb driving.

on another note, doesn anyone notice with the autos that if you drive it in manual mode- even upping it gets you better fuel economy? i swear my car is just so picky on when it sucks fuel and doesnt, sometimes i will activly drive my car hard all week and get better economy than when i nana'd it the week before...

The problem with what you are saying at this stage is that we don't know how much fuel you are putting in when you fill. If for some reason your trip computer isn't the same as mine and works it out for you, then do it yourself the old fasioned way.

Set your manual trip meter next time you fill. Drive till you want to put more fuel in. Record how many litres of fuel you put in till it's full again and do some quick maths.

Say- 380km and 42litres of fuel (my tank holds 64 and I'll usually put in between 52 and 62 but I get between 480 to 650km depending on amount and economy)

So 380km 42l:

42 / 380 = 0.1105263etc times this by 100 = liters per hundred. ie 11.05.

So litres put in divided by kms traveled times by 100.
This will be even more accuratethan the computer if you are accurate with your account of the numbers as you drive...

I pretty much get 500-550Km's city driving each and every tank, and about 650-700 on the highway.
Easy conversion for your Km/L --> L/100Km is

100/the figure shown on the trip computer.

you guys are lucky i average 14.4l/100k's...dont know how you do it

I only just picked up my 04 Liberty GT wagon 9 days ago. I had a Gen2 TT before that and on the highway it was pretty good on fuel. I think the best i had gotten was 8.1L/100km.

Over the last weekend I filled up here in Brisbane (Mobil 8000)and did about 50km of city driving before heading off to Glen Innes ( then 3 or 4 short runs in Glen Innes) then onto Grafton. I did 570km before the "low fuel" bowser icon came up. I filled in Grafton after a total of 605km. My trip computer said I had 100km till empty and that I was getting 11.2 km/L. I put 55L in to fill it . 9.0L/100km was the result. I wasnt terribly impressed with those numbers. . I didnt use cruise control at all for that 605km. Air con was on for the whole time.

I filled with BP Ultimate in Grafton and drove all the way home to where I live 25km north of Brisbane CBD. 350km in total. I used cruise control as much as I could and aircon was on the whole time . I havnt filled again yet but my trip computer says I have 490km till empty and that I have been averaging 13.2km/L. The fuel gauge is not yet at halfway. Its about 2 or 3 millemetre above the halfway mark.

Im not normally the type to pay so much attention to economy but Ive only just got the car and was curious as to how it would go in this regard. It seems my second tank is shaping up really well . Hopefully high 7s to low 8s will be the result.

How accurate is the trip computer in the Gen 4s particularly the GT's. My car has 122000 km on it and is an auto wagon.

As far as I can tell its totally standard. If I put a larger diameter TBE and free up the intake breathing shouldnt I expect better economy again (if driven to achieve it of course)

Isnt the tank in a Gen3 about 60 litres (if not more) so your filling with 1/3 or 20 litres left.

Anyone done it before an after a tune?
