Looking for new turbo!

Postby S217 » Sun Jun 05, 2016 4:37 pm

Hi all
Currently looking for a new turbo to replace the td04hla in a manual tbsti.
Currently has:
1000cc injectors
Walbro 255lph pump (or something similar)
3 port bost solenoid
K&n panel filter
Avo dump pipe
Link g4+ plugin ecu
Running 178kwatw and flat 400nm
On e85
Looking to aim at 220kwatw onwards.

Currently looking at the kinugawa td05-20g
Inlet pipe
Catback (maybe)
And intercooler inlet because that looks pretty melted.
How much power would be expected and with what turbo set up?

I there a bolt on option?
I sent an email to kinugawa and they said the housing for liberties are different and the ones that would fit will restock end of June.

The only one that has the same flanges is the td04hla-20t which isn't much of a step up from the current one. All the other twinscroll options Kinugawa stock are for the STI flanges.

Na. Thats the point I was making. Everything out there other than the 20t is designed for The STI twinscroll flanges. So for off the shelf turbo's either get the 20t or grab STI headers, uppipe and downpipe along with a STI flanged twinscroll turbo like that one

So much work! What other bolt on turbos or turbo set ups do people usually do?

Following. I'll be upgrading my turbo within the next 12 months to a single scroll because a)more power but more importantly i want my subaru to sound like a frikin subaru. I'll be going FMIC also so might have a bit more room to go twist mount. Regardless i'm going to need all new piping. uel headers etc. I've had a quick look at some Garret options but trying to figure out what to go with is hard when you're not super mechanically minded. Blouch make a turbo called a 'dominator' haha.

** edit - i don't mean single scroll = more power, just going bigger in a single scroll option  **
I just wanna drive cars, laugh with my boys and take photos.

Need to be conservative with the tune regardless of setup if staying stock heads and short.
This is where e85 becomes a good option if extra headroom is required.
El headers are a good thing for consistent per cyl egts.
