Single Scroll w/ UEL Headers?

First post, long time stalker.

So my vf38 turbo blew. So looking to get a replacement. Unfortunately the bolt-on Kinugawa TD04's have housing casting problems (since Jan... and no real expected fix date).

Out of ideas, but was thinking of going a vf34/vf52 and buying new headers/up pipe. Maybe something like this?

Since I already spent money on a AVO dump/TMIC to fit the vf38... Would like to make the most of these for now :)

Any suggestions MUCH appreciated. And quite possibly I have my idea of fitment above all wrong.

Thought I'd respond to your pm here instead

Essentially, anything related to the twin scroll turbo setup is unique to that setup and the liberty.

So if changing turbo, you will need to change headers, uppipe and dump pipe bell mouth flange to turbo at the very least.

Vf34/52 etc can be made to work, but you will need single scroll headers/uppipe and a suitable dump pipe.

Thnx for the info. Doesnt sound like too much trouble (good thing avo has a seperate bell mouth collector from the rest of the dump pipe, so can get a new collector fabricated).

Jut hoping the new headers wont require changing any other parts... And that I won't regret the extra spool time of a vf52... A bit of boost around 3k will still be nice

Just buy the avo dump collector for the new turbo and sell the vf38 collector :)

Good Advice, followed up and AVO can do.

Got the go ahead from Subaru that they will be able to attempt the conversion; so fingers crossed this build will work out.

You're aware a blown turbo can contanimate your oil requiring quite a lot of work if the engine ingested some of the comp wheel and housing...?
Not sure of how yours blew, but if your oil contains traces of glitter, well, research around that.

Have you considered a Subaru specialist workshop, as opposed to a dealership?
