2003 Liberty GT CIL on

Postby dominant88 » Tue Mar 15, 2016 5:37 pm

So Basically my check engine light has been turning on and off for a few weeks now, I believe that it is just the catalytic converter or a sensor because the car is driving just fine. I will fix it eventually, but at the moment I need it turned off because I have a long drive coming up and would really like to use the cruise control (why the fuck can't you use the cruise control???).

What is the best way to keep the light off so I can have cruise control for my 14 hour round trip? Will an OBD2 connector be able to wipe the code and keep it off? If so can you recommend one to use with either IOS or OSX? Or should I just get a mechanic to wipe it?

If i plug the two black connectors together that are supposed to make the CIL blink it just stays solid and then turns off for a while but will turn back on again. Can I just have the passenger plug those wires together as I am driving to turn the light off?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I really did do some searching before posting.

Thanks for any help, really appreciated.

Use the OBD2 device to read the code. Post up here.

Some of the codes you do NOT want turned off

I ended up taking it to a mechanic as I didn't have enough time to order an OBD2 kit. He said that it was the O2 sensor and that he tried to clear it but it would not let him.

Is there anyway to bypass the sensor so that my cruise control works?

No, need a new sensor.

I suggest www.partsouq.com and get part number off the stock sensor
Order it this weekend, be here by Wednesday
