257 Hybrid

Postby HighTech RedNeck » Sat Nov 14, 2015 6:36 pm

As most know i have just done a 257 Hybrid rebuild and its not starting.

Things i have checked:
Belt timing has been checked several times and rotated by hand with no noise or resistance
All Fuses
Fuel Supply
Fuel Injector signal
Engine Earth
CAS resistance 2020ohm
MAF

making a spark tester tomorrow but i do believe there is no spark at all, any thing else i can check before i push it out onto the street and set fire to it

Do you have the "Diagnostics for Engine Starting Failure" table from the service manual?

There are four ignitors on the DOHC Turbo.
The ingnitors are powered from the ignition switch through fuse 12 and grounded by the ECM through pins 13 thru 16 - connector B21.
When the ECM opens these lines, the coil pack for the appropriate cylinder will fire.

By CAS do you mean Crank Angle Sensor?
There are three sensors on the turbo engine.
Crank Position Sensor (CPS)
Intake camshaft position sensor (LH & RH)
Exhaust camshaft position sensor (LH & RH)

You have checked continuity between the No.1 on E13; E32; E33; E34 and B135 No15; 16; 17; 18; respectively?
What does pins 15; 16; 17; 18 at the ecm do while ranking?
Has the insulation resistance between B135 No15; 16; 17; 18 and the engine ground been checked?
Cheers!

god damn I am retarded, I have been using resistance testing instead of continuity.

pete, I am using the coil plug on number 3 cylinder because it is easy to reach with out pulling shit apart. middle pin 1 E33 goes back to pin 12 on B21, is that right?

Check here

electrics aren't my forte and usually most of my work is just with a test light
