Hi guys.
just wondering if anyone might have a spare power steering pump, in reasonable condition, they may consider selling.Noticed a bit of smoke coming from under the
bonnet this afternoon had a look and it seemed to be power steering fluid that had made its way onto the exhaust. The power steering pump being directly over the top of
where I saw the fluid so I am assuming the pumps leaking. As I topped it up not long ago.
Any help would appreciated cheers fella's

I have never rebuilt a Subaru steering pump, however the directions are contained within the factory service manual.
If faced with your position I would be rebuilding mine, basically because I would not find it difficult.
Identify the correct pump and kit combination first.

Or send it to MrRacks in Seven Hills NSW. Give them a call.
Great service and prices. About $190 from memory to rebuild your pump with warranty.
You will need to ensure you buy a OEM low pressure hose and the o ring supplied is also fitted by your mechanic (if you dont send the attachment that has the existing o ring to them) for the warranty to hold.
They can rebuild it and send it out on the same day.

You might be surprised how easy the fix might be.
Had a similar issue with a power steering pump on a 99 WRX leaking and squealing. Ended up being a small o-ring between the reservoir and the pump which was a $2 fix.
Buy an o-ring kit, pull it out, undo some of the visible bolts and replace any major o-rings or seals you can see. Might just solve your problems

I have already done that and actually thought that I had resolved the issue. But after a while I was topping up the
fluid again so I looked under the pump and there was steering fluid pooled up under it so I suppose its got to be the
pump as I cant see any other signs of leaks.

Any update to this? Apparently mine needs rebuilding and have been quote $600 incl. labour.
NOT an expense I need after just spending that on the last service a week ago and needing tyres next, before rego is due in a few months.
I'm surprised too as I've only just ticked over 100,000kms.

For Melb guys, I recommend Cromwood Auto in Burwood. I had mine rebuilt in Dec for about $400 inc labour.
