JDM PW TMIC Fitment?

Postby knockoutgiant » Thu Jul 02, 2015 4:26 pm

Evening guys,

I'm looking at getting a PW TMIC in a week or so, I'm aware the USDM/AUDM vs JDM intercooler setups are slightly different.

Question is, what exactly needs to be done to adapt the intercooler to fit JDM Legacys?

As far as I'm aware I'll just need a custom silicone pipe from turbo to intercooler correct?

Cheers for any help! :D

There is a specific model for postFL Liberty.
It's the east/west config for turbos with a flanged compressor outlet and plastic inlet manifolds with the offset inlet.

I'm not sure about preFL type tmics but the silicone tube for 08+ STi could probably mated to the plastic tube that's on the preFL compressor outlet or to the compressor outlet itself. The 08+ STi version is still east/west but uses a different silicone inlet pipe for turbos w/o the compressor outlet flange.

If you happen to have an alloy inlet mani, that uses a north/south PW tmic.

To sum up it depends on your compressor outlet type and your inlet mani type :)

Which is yours?

Okay sooo...

03 Legacy, North/south turbo outlet however the outlet is on the left side of the turbo as opposed to the right side on the USDM/AUDM Lgacys.

Also a plastic intake mani.

Not sure if pictures help but here ya go:

Easily done. PW provides a flange for the turbo outlet and a silicone hose that connects it to the intercooler. Coolers are all the same as far as I know.

We got that exact same engine. Just order the piping kit for the 03-06 LGT from Process West. We got that 2L LGT for 03-06

Have you looked into the grimmspeed one yet? They seem to be pretty certain their intercooler is a step above the process west one

Grimspeed does not fit the 2L LGT

04-06 is what they are refering to. Just the hot side turbo location is a little misaligned when fitted with the 07+ hose. I think they may have stopped the 2L hose production, best to email them.

Yea figured they would have never designed it to be compatible but won't it just be a matter of having the silicone hose angled differently. With the width of the grimmspeed one it'll be closer to the twinscroll outlet than it will be on the vf46

Ahh well, I guess I'll just have to get what I'm given and make it fit!

Have emailed them before and they've said they're completely unsure about the JDM 2L fitment as they've never tried it.

However, worst case situation is that I'll have to get someone to fab up a pipe going from turbo to intercooler right?

All mounting brackets/throttlebody hose/bypass valve locations are all the same?
