Thanks. Ive pm'd the member about that flange

So if I pull my under manifold pipe off to check the banjo screen, will I be able to tell if the turbo is rooted by the amount of shaft play?
It didnt seem to have any when I installed it 500kms ago. I checked the banjo on the old motor and the screens have been removed.

Yes but from your symptoms I don't think its your turbo

Matt plugged his laptop in and we went for a drive, other than the MAF reading being a little high when boosting, he couldnt pinpoint anything out of the ordinary with the tune. The MAF reading indicated a small boost leak, but not enough to explain the sluggishness of the turbo.

If you revist this tread Matt, could you elaborate on the above?

Thus why I also suggested blocked cat

A blocked cat will not allow exhaust gases to flow properly and thus inhibit the turbo's ability to generate boost

Blocked cat would show more symptoms in the top end.

Wastegate is chattering against the housing. Stock tune and my diagnostics tune tested.

Yeah from my experience thats what I thought. My L wagon melted the cat and the exhaust note changed from "dub dub dub dub' to " ahhhhhhhhhhhhh'
Low revs were fine but as I pushed past 4000rpm it just died in the arse

I'll gut the old oxygen sensor and put a hose nipple in it to test the exhaust pressure for peace of mind.

I checked the left hand intake OCV screen (because it was the easiest to remove) and it wasnt there. Is it safe to assume that all the screens have been removed?

Im pretty much having the same problem as you at the moment... my car feels like it just doesn't want to rev.

Plug it into my laptop and monitor it with RomRaider and everything seems fine... its reaching target boost, learning view and everything looks normal. I'm getting a feeling it may be a blocked cat as my cars done around 170,000kms and its probably still on the factory cat.

I have a cat back exhaust to go on which I hope solves all my issues.

so out of curiosity, when is boost meant to kick in?

i was under the impression that you don't really feel it come 'on' until about the 2.5-3ish mark anyway?
