I've always used quarter mile as a measure for the difference mods make and it has always interested me. I always race my cars stock then document the changes.
I just ran my stock 2004 GT wagon auto down Willowbank and got a 15.1@89mph, which imo is a lot slower than it should be for its power/weight. My boost gauge only reads 12psi though, so this could have something to do with it. I did find the MAP sensor hose was stale and loose so this may have impacted it.
Next I'll pull the tmic off and check the throttle body hose and all the vac lines.
It then gets a dump pipe made on Tuesday and it will be time to head back to the track. After that will be tune and that probably it for a while.
Questions are:
1. Is 15.1@89mph too slow for a stock auto wagon?
2. What could be causing 12psi boost? (holds solid)
3. Anyone raced with just the dump changed?
Most importantly:
4. Whats the typical time with a dump and tune?
Cheers.
It was disappointing to run slower than my stock '04 XT Forester auto despite supposedly having more power.
