timing belt kits??

Postby Jake.h71 » Sun Apr 05, 2015 9:09 am

Hey guys recently purchased an 04 liberty gt with high k's and am choosing to do a timing belt just to cover my ass. I have done one before but parts were supplied (mates car). Just wondering what prices I'm looking at for both genuine and non genuine both with and without water pump. What have you guys paid for such kits?

I paid $200 for a sohc na kit on ebay.

Gates brand including water pump.

I believe the dohc turbo kit would be a bit more $250 -$300 from the US . Should be good quality but I would ensure you get a genuine thermostat to go with it.

I used a cheap one from repco as I forgot to order the thermostat and it failed causing me to overheat and blow head gaskets. lesson learned. Need to get good quality parts and not generic stuff from repco.

Lesson learned the hard way haha so you would advise to stay away from the gates reproduction :/

Both gates and dayco timing belt kits are the respected brands in the industry. No considerable difference.
