HKS EVC or 3 port ebcs for relatively stock car?

Postby phly » Sat Dec 27, 2014 12:09 pm

Hi guys, just wondering whether it would be worth getting a HKS EVC6/EVC-S for a relatively stock car (only has upgraded top mount and tbe). Or should I save my money and just buy a 3 port from Perrin or Grimmspeed. Or should I just not buy anything at all?

3 port. tune. Note you NEED a tune, you cannot run with your current tune unless you like running too much boost and possibly exploding stuff.

EBC is pretty much a WOFTAM

let me expand: On a mostly stock car, given the requirements, you're not going to see any worthwhile returns on your money from an aftermarket EBC vs the standard ECU tuned with a 3 port.

It's not that you don't get features for your money, but not features that IMHO are worth that amount of money, given a high end boost controller is north of $500. This goes double if you're in a post face lift, which has different boost for different drive modes.

They're all the same. They're just rebranded Mac valves.
