He reackons with the 18g it will be around 550cfm which is quite a lot more than VF36(which is 460cfm). I am yet to decide which one to go with 16g or 18g. Not much difference in both, maybe about 30cfm.

My goal is 223kw (300hp) at the wheel. This turbo should do it, but what mods do I need to do?

1) Trubosmart FPR800?
2) I am still on stock intercooler, thinking of either avo or process west, suggestions?

Will be getting the avo induction pipe and the maf pipe to fit the turbo inlet which will now be 3".

18g is a lag train on the 2L engines... sure it might make the peak power but your sacrifficing a LOT under 4000rpm to make 300whp

Yea thats whats holding me back reg the 18g. But with 16g I would need to run lot of boost to get 300whp. So i am hoping that the hybrid turbo being twin scroll it will spool faster. My engine is 2L and high compression 9.5:1. With the 18g i wouldnt need to run as much boost. what you reackon?

Seems to be pretty much the only guy over here that does road tunes for subaru's. Was considering going through him for mine aswell

What does that mean exactly? vf38 is a turbo and td05-16/18g is a different turbo? haha
are you swapping housings?

Yea this guy has loads of experience aye, has his own subaru rs which produces 300akw and he has like 7 different mappings on it. After my mods I will go back to him to get another tune.

It means, swapping the internals (core of the td05 turbo, either the 16g or the 18g) into the vf38.

Similar boost, maybe 17psi to make 300whp

Talk to the owner of this: viewtopic.php?f=68&t=27177&p=388612#p388612 thread and he can tell you why a TD04-19T was better than the Tomei TD05

Also curious, does the PW TMIC bolt directly onto the JDM twinscroll legacys? I assume there needs to be pipe modifications made?

Blue side feeds are 520cc. Get a pressure regulator and run 60psi rail pressure

Did 223Kw on a TD04-20T recently on 16psi at peak power(they dont like big boost up top, let the WG flow air and they make stupid power. VF36/37 will struggle to get there plus you lose a lot of low rpm torque

Other option is getting JDM twinscroll GDB headers, an ATP GTX2863R and make 250Kw on 16psi

Wow 223KW, is that at the wheels or engine? What other mods have you had to do? Are you on the standard TMIC?

I made about 180-185kw atw with the standard tmic, full turbo back exhaust and a aem panel filter, and peak boost was 1.3bar which is about 19psi, but it goes down to .92 bar (13psi) at redline in 3rd gear. So really keen to know your mods on how you got that power at 16psi. Did that turbo pull all the way to redline?

Yes, pulls all the way to redline. Had 18psi at 2800rpm so the torque curve is extremely wide. PW TMIC was about the only other difference to yours

Nice :)
Was that in 98 or e85?
