Cough, no power, engine light and cruise light

Postby HighTech RedNeck » Sat May 03, 2014 8:43 pm

from time to time my 05 liberty will give one cough and drop to limp mode with the engine light and flashing cruise light and the only thing i have found to fix it is to pull a few of the bigger fuses out and put back in which seems to sort it out. is there any idea on what can be causing this because my local subaru dealer is about an hour away and is a bit far to drop in after work for a random fault code check.

Where abouts are you? Either someone with a reader could help you out or have a look online for a bluetooth obd2 adapter ($10) and torque app for android (free), that will sort you out.

Good luck.

Tactrix might be an option for you :)

Iirc the CEL fault codes can be viewed on the trip computer display, maybe search that.

Why not put your location in your profile maybe a local could help.

I got the wife to take it have the codes read and came back with p0031 and p0607.

Could p0031 be a crook o2 sensor and just needs replacing and p0607 either being bad earth or a ecu on its way out?

Matt (Kido) will know what these codes are.

I did a google search and came up with these:
http://engine-codes.com/p0031_subaru.html
http://engine-codes.com/p0607_subaru.html

Hey mate I have the same issue,
I plugged in my diagnostic to and found it was
Bank 1 o2 sensor.
Just waiting for the new sensor to turn up.

Hope this was helpful.

For what it's worth....my 02 sensor was cactus as well and car was getting around 440km per tank mainly city driving.
Was told buy both front and back sensors while i was at it. Now getting 500km to tank.
Bought from http://www.amayama.com for $264 in total for both....subaru wanted something like $400 each!!
Definitely worth buying 2 new ones if you have to replace 1
