Hmmm will be interesting to see the gains of this turbo vs figures people have achieved with the standard TD04HLA-19T.

I've toyed with the idea of upgrading the turbo on my MY05 GT and it seems the easiest option is to go a VF37, frount mount intercooler and get a dump pipe knocked up.

Will need STi twinscroll headers and up pipe too; the LGT ones are different and VF37 (or 36, 42, 49, 53 or 56) won't fit on the up pipe.

What Sean said.
I believe the easiest option in upgrading your turbo would be what I have done.

No worries mate; bit disappointed I didn't get to test it out; but broken inlet manifold and limited funds meant I miss out this time :/

Out of curiosity, what's your MAF sensor reading as g/sec? A very rough guesstimate on how much power you're putting down is: MAF reading in g/sec = wheel horsepower.
Again, this is only VERY ROUGH estimate (my old car was dyno'd at 232hp and 263hp on different dynos, but max MAF reading was 248.7 g/sec...so not far out at all)

Yeah ideally it would of been great to compare vf38 with this turbo back to back as i don't even have a before snapshot (dyno or mph)...but anyway

I'll have to ask Matt and get back to you on that one as i don't have any other way to access this info off the ECU.

For what it's worth, I got hold of an elm327 OBD2 thingy and dloaded he Torque app on my sammy phone however no luck with connecting to it.
I think these don't work on our cars. Is that right?
If i'm doing something wrong and can get it working to get those MAF sensor readings then please let me know.

Interesting, I read somewhere that they did fit but due to the different compressor housing couldn't be mated up with the stock tmic.

I wonder if this up pipe would line up with the stock Liberty GT headers or could be easily modified to fit.

You read wrong.

The exhaust manifold flanges are different...
Here's the stock LGT up pipe

^^HEADER END^^

^^TURBO END^^

Compared to the STi twin scroll up pipe, note the difference in bolt/stud locations. On the header end the lonely bolt hole is offset from the centre while the LGT one is centred. On the turbo end, the differences are best seen by looking at the turbos themselves...

Slush box still but the auto is locking up nicely. 19psi by 3200rpm stands out as the real powerhouse of this turbo

What's the relationship between MAF V and hp/kW?

Thanks Matt

19psi by 3200rpm stands out as the real powerhouse of this turbo

Wonder what sort of power it would flow if it held 17psi.....

I think kinugawa were saying that it flows something like 540cfm at 17.5psi

Small update:
Got a touch up tune done by Matt with a kompact bov now installed which closes when it should compared to the stock valve that wasn't.
Oh and cranked up the adj FPR too a few psi.
Car feels heaps better with boost coming on stronger now. Can get 460km to a tank with combined city/highway driving on 98.
Very happy with this little turbo.
No dyno run or qtr mile mph on the current tune as yet.
