Hi guys,

I tried searching for this but couldn't find an answer. I have a 2005 MY06 STI tuned liberty (sedan, manual) and want to get an exhaust made. I've been told mixed things about which turbo I have... on the net I found a few places saying I had a single scroll turbo (td04). I think Mick from techworkz said I had a twin scroll? On the MRT website it the dump pipe is the same for normal gt and sti tuned, also on their website it doesn't mention anything about what turbo is on the car. TCP thinks I have a twin scroll?

My memory might be failing me here but I think the turbo on the manual and auto of the 2.0 is different.

2.0L GT has a twin scroll VF38 for the auto and for the manual it's also twin scroll TD04-HLA. Again memory may be wrong.

Does that mean I need to get the splitter part made up in the dump pipe to separate the wastegate and the exhaust turbine gas? Also does anyone have the specs on the stock turbo? Is there any turbos which are straight swap? Like a gutted one with bigger internals or waste of time?

No turbo bolts straight up.
Some people do rebuilt them with the vf34 internals. They are quite a similar performing turbo.
As for a divorced dump and wastegate thing. No.
TCP makes an off the shelf dump that is good, along with many others.

I only have the dump for the single scroll turbo, the 05 i thnk has the twin scroll turbo, you will either nee to mod my dump to suit the twin scroll or purchase a twins scroll dump, I dont stock these though

You need an AVO or PhatGT dump pipe

I've been quoted around $1600-$1800 for a complete system. 3inch all the way until the Y piece which is 2.5inch.

The place that said $1800 I think said it will be in a low quality stainless steel (don't know why he mentioned it was low quality...). They said if they make everything up to the stock sti mufflers it would be $1300.

That sounds about right, I think mine was $1200 (mild steel) + the quad tips I already had

Prices sound ok; I got quoted $800 for custom down pipe and another $800 for the cat back. All custom. All stainless with Magnaflow 200 cel cat and mufflers
