Your backfire and inability to rev may be due to a stuck solenoid. You need to use an engine flush as what may have happened is the gunk came out and lodged in the avcs cam trigger and thus not allowing cam retard
Filter was in the bucket that the exhuast solenoid goes into, the square piece right in the center hole
I'm gonna recheck timing tomorrow too as i suspect it is off a notch or two, or the tensioner is going causing one of the cams to retard/advance as the belt comes loose. ...but i really just think it's the timing off.
but i need a safe oil flush. Any ideas to the bestest approach?

Check for inlet leaks = backfire under boost
ECU has been reset, I also unplugged the maf to ensure it wasn't an inlet leak. Revved hesitated just the same.
