Should I do it all at once?

Postby exclusive2u » Wed Dec 12, 2012 6:10 pm

Hi everyone,

I recently got myself a 06 Liberty tuned by STi, has 98,000ks on it. I got a mechanic to check through the whole car before I paid for it.

So the mechanic highlighted to me that the alternator belt is starting to have some cracks which is not a big issue considering its a 6yr old car.

So here's my dilemma, I understand that for 06 Liberty the drive belts and timing belt are all due at 125,000km. So what should I do?

1. Just replace the misc drive belts now and leave the timing belt till 125,000km? Or

2. Replace all the belts including timing belt and fluids all at one go now? Which basically is the 100,000km service for MY04 & 05 models.

What are your suggestion guys?

Regards,
Alvin

My07+ is 125k for timing belt. Your my06 is due for timing belt now, actually it's probably overdue as servicing is time OR km.

By the way, your 06 tbSTi is no different to all 04-06 models, apart from a few STi add ons and revised tune.

I called Eblens Subaru and they told me:

100k is replacement of fluids
125k is replacement of all belts

Yeah I think they changed it for MY06 to the staggered servicing. But I agree with Zach, look at the recommended service time for timing belt. It's probably a couple of years overdue.

I was told by Subaru 6 years or 125k for my MY06 as I had the same dilemma. Ended up just getting the lot done, for peace of mind it was worthwhile just doing and it'd have to be done eventually, right?
