If yours is a manual you have a td04hla

The engine is plenty strong enough just change the turbo, headers, turbo back exhaust, a aftermarket tmic and a different intake then tune. You would be maxing the turbo at 180-90kw (td04hla) with just tuning and supporting mods.
Not sure on boost pressure to hit 200 but factory tune mine was at 14psi. Yours will be more cause its a tbsti
Anyone else correct me if I'm wrong...

You would want to do fuel pump also.
Plus if you did injectors and went E85 tune you could probably break 200.

Yes mines a manual...
Mmm... so really dosent take a whole lot to get close to the 200 mark... by that i meant engine work...
Would i be worng if i said my car should be producing around the 135k atw at the moment??
Also what turbo would people be reccommending??

That's good! The autos got a different turbo...
You might have around 110-20 atw. Mine was kido tuned by matt and he estimated it would of had around 110. After the tune he said its got around 160-70 atw yet to actually know though. Mine is still stock engine set up with only a k&n replacement air filter... So still more room for power.
As for turbos people have said for a cheaper option I could try find some 08 wrx headers/aftermarket turbo/turbo bracket/dump pipe and a stock intercooler (they are different on the compressor side) and I think the oil sump has to be changed also for the headers

Mick (dr20t) has a crazy 2.0T auto getting crazy power, 200+ I think

Manuals do about 130 kw at the wheels stock. The td04hla is good for about 170 at the treads. They make about 190 with a vf34 on them. They seem a little more restricted than their WRX cousins. Most likely the cam grind.
Mine went 215 with a BBK-L roller bearing, a FMIC, 850cc injectors, aftermarket headers, 3 inch exhuast and AVO pump on 18 psi.
Dr20t went 218 through an auto with a gt28, FMIC, ID1000s, an aeromotive 340 pump (off the top of my head) 3" zorst and some other soucery.
That is on pump 98. dr20t when something like 251 on e85. Mine is being e85ed as we speak, but i doubt mine will go that high.
In short. No, 200kw won't happen on the stock turbo, 170kw at the wheels is quite a lot, and will get your liberty moving.

No need to change the sump for wrx headers. I ran a set of some form of factory UELs when I had my vf34 on. For the record, it isn't really a cheaper way to go. A new vf34 costs quite a lot.

Ah really? That's good to know. When I say cheaper way to go I mean its cheaper to do the stock wrx add ons then get a bigger twin scroll to bolt on, right? (I don't even know what is a direct replacement for the td04hla)
Tbh I'm fairly happy with the power I have after the tune on my stock set up, for a wagon it hauls ass and spins all fours. I think I'll be done with power mods after getting better injectors, fuel pump, tmic, dump pipe and tune to suit....

Yeah zach, it is a fair bit cheaper. But if I was to suggest something for a 2.0, it would be get a set of Kando equal length headers (single scroll) for $550 bucks, and get a Kinugawa [sp] td0518g for about 500-700 off ebay. That is less than the cost of a new vf34 with argueably more power potential.

^^^^ what Ian said
That's the cheapest way to make some power
One thing however is that no one has had one of these kinugawas running in a subie for extended time so reliability is untested I believe. (not hanging shit on kinugawa or whatever just pointing it out - correct me if Im wrong which I probably am

)
Your td04hla will max out at about a true 170atw
In a manual you could make 260+ on 98 with the right setup - unopened motor too

I made 255 on e85. If manual, I believe it wouldve made 270 or so but that's pretty much the limit of the stock block, especially for a daily driver.

Awesome, thanks guys. Great info for the 2L turbo gen4s.
I agree with mick on the kinugawa turbos, great price, look good but I don't know anyone with one...
