100k Service on a MY06 Lib

Hi all,
I'm very new to the world of Lib GT's and have found a very clean MY06 GT and am just about to purchase it. The only concern I have about it is it has 104,000 km on the clock and has not had its 100k service done (a fairly rigorous and expensive one from what I've read so far, timing belt, water pump etc etc..). Is it recommended to get this done straight away (i.e. as soon as it hits 100,000) or can it be left till, say, 110,000km without risk of damage to the engine/car? I guess what I'm asking is do i need to address this straight away or can it be put off a month or so?
I know this will depend on the car's previous life, condition, stress on the engine.. but in general terms what is recommended for Subarus?

Look forward to hearing from everyone!!
Cheers!

Well with most maintenance as you said it comes down to the previous life of the car. But if the timing belt goes, its going cost a hell of a lot more than the service...

Are you a gambling man?

Personally I'd just do it and get it done, I'm still 10000+km off, but mine's an 05 and I'm starting to think maybe it should be done just on time alone.

Also remember that all servicing is for kms or timeframe, whichever comes first.

I believe the 100000k is 4 or 5 years? In which case it is overdue.
Time is especially a concern with rubber based parts.

I bought my car with roughly 85000k on it and got the 100000k service straight away.
For one I feel better having serviced a car and getting them to check it over good after I buy and also because it was already a 5 year old car ('06 MY07 bought in '11).

It is expensive though. I paid 1200 or so from memory, although that was including also a new water pump and having them install a new pully kit while they were at it.

Yeah I agree with both of you guys for sure, my only problem is coming up with that cash so soon after buying the car :/

Rooby, did you get yours done at Subaru or a private mechanic for that price? I would've thought Subaru would be more!

No, that wasn't from Subaru.
I don't see the need to pay their rates. I have no warranty or anything like that.

That price in include the pulley kit though, only it's install.

To clarify the t/belt isnt due until 125,000km, the 100,000km service is only oil and filter from memory, 112,500km is auto trans and diff oils then 125,000 is the big one. Despite what people say dont stress about the "or time" this really is only an issue for items that can degrade with time, ie brake fluids etc. I have never ever in my life seen a timing belt fail due to time!

Hey mate, use this service to knock some off the price. As has already been stated, better safe than sorry, my car has only 80,000 km on it, but, being its a 2005 i had the timing belt changed for peace of mind ( even the garage said it wasnt nessecary to change it but insisted it was done ) turned out it was just as well i did, when i went to pick it up afterwards they showed me the old belt and it had quite a bit of fraying, they said it was actually binding up on something and almost certainly would of snapped in the not to distant future had i left it
