Hey guys so i got bored today and had some aluminium layin around ao i decide to start building a box to house my short ram intake i have sitting at home although i ran out of material does anyone have any pointers or tips for where to run intake pipes to and from the box for extra volume of air in the box

use the factory air scoop and get a pickup pipe behind the fog light

Ok thank you. Alao another question is the box has to be completel sealed and maf sensor has to be in the aame location. Is that correct or can the maf be in a different location but the same distance overall?

It can be a different location, distance doesn't matter, as long as its not much further. but closer is ok.

What about the box being sealed? For example i was thinking of making a grate and having an opening into the wheelarch. Would that be illegal? If i jist split up the engine bay and wheel arch and use the bonnet as the lid can i simply make a plate that seperates them?

its not illegal. its a cold air intake.

Are you doing this for something to do or actually looking to gain more power from it?

I have had my turbo hifowe and tuned and i was told by hpf that the intake was very restrictive. This was like a year or so ago but basicly doing it as works slow at the moment and have the nwxt week off so it wastes some time and tick it off a long "to do" list. Plus it will hopefully look good so u no its with a shot. If it doesnt work out plan b was to just get an avo lunchbox and be done with it. What would be the best method the get a good seal if i choose to use the bonnet as the lid? Has anyone done this before?or built there own airbox? I remebering seeing a diy tutorial a while ago but cannot find it for the life of me.

Tomorrow i will upload a few pics of what i have done so far. Does anyone no anywhere in south east melb that can weld alloy sheet metal? Ive tried a few placea but they didnt seem to have time apparently.

Doesnt really matter about the airbox as you can still only take in as much air as the diameter of the intake pipe.

Remove resonator and open up the airbox into the inner guard. Done.

Intake being restrictive is the from the afm to the turbo. Not the airbox itself.

Just get some sort of seal from clark rubber that sits along the top of it.

Is that the flexi pipe ur talking bout with the 45degree bends on each end? Coz im replacing that with 3" stainless pipe. Bout to head out now to get supplies to finish it off.

Its also the under manifold section.
