new turbo options..

KVN has finally blown it... busted my stock turbo over the weekend and now i must resort to driving the work car for the time being.

just wondering, what direct bolt on replacements available? i'm not really looking at any gains, just a nice wallet-friendly way of fixing the old KVN so she runs again..

i say wallet-friendly due to a break in at my office, and a visit or two to the dentist, the last few weeks have set me back in the vicinity of 25 large ones..

Might have to find yourself a used VF37. Nothing on Ebay at the moment, perhaps Import Monster? Theres a STI spec VF36 on Ebay but its $900+ at the moment.

I would say import monster may be your best bet.

Correct about the VF37 as i have one for sale much much cheaper than the one off ebay... I bought it for the exact same reason but it didn't bolt up and now look what happened... $10k later lol... Good luck finding one by the way... If you want to upgrade it all you need is a custom up pipe and a flange on your dump pipe... Cheers, Nick

I'm in the same boat, standard turbo has gone and the car has been sitting at the work shop for the last week and a half waiting for a turbo to come in so I'm trying to find some other options to speed it up, the car is an 05 auto GT so any ideas people have would be great!

idea -

2.5 stock headers - cheap
2.5 dump after market...sell you twin scroll
vf46 - $250
stock 2.5 top mount - cheap

pic up those parts cheap...just a bit of work...

MSR did one recently...did real well, can't remember what figures...

:)

problem is I don't want to be doing any engine work, I just want the car back. I tried gtpumps but it doesn't look like they have a direct replacement for the VF38 only the VF37,

trust me to blow a turbo that no one can replace!

So does anyone know how easily the VF52 turbo can be put onto an 05 auto GT? seems to get a pretty good rap as a turbo and it's bucket loads cheaper than a VF38

That's it , don't see it as a problem but as an opportunity and then find a solution .

I am about to pull an exhaust manifold and up pipe that would suit a VF series (or any single scroll with that flange pattern) off my GT. Happy to let if go for cheaps if it gets you out of a jam.
