Hi Guys,
I hope this makes sense as I don't know the exact terminology! The hose that connects to the stock BOV, once its removed, it makes the wooosh noice (lol) that some are after. Is there any harm in having this hose disconnected for the noise? (reason being not to buy a BOV)
Thanks
Chris

Have to disagree. you can run a after market bov and vent 100% to atmosphere without any dramas. iv done it for a while. in some cases the plumbacked air can disrupt other sensors in the systems especialy if there is a boost spike and it fluters it can be bad for the sensors.

Stock will be. its ilegal to vent anything to atmosphere. it may contain oil and or fuel.

Venting to atmo on our cars is silly. It throws the tune out and will cause the car to stall at low revs. The factory tune accomodates for the air re-circulated via the BOV.

saying that, taking off the line and letting it vent to atmosphere wouldn't have many benefits would it? except a louder noice lol

i vent mine 100% and being that its adjusted properly, the idle is fine and the tune is not out the log from plumback is no different from the log data with venting. mines 2.5l not 2.0l but its much of the same.

Any recommendations for a dual port? I've had mixed reviews on the GFB models. Also the turbosmart 0205-1010 manual says I need to cut the engine cover?
Any advice would be great!
Thanks

the new gfb model is pretty good, it's adjustment is on the dial, so you don't have to remove it to make it 50/50 etc. you can even adjust it to 75/25. Good thing is you don't have to cut your engine cover and it hide nicely away
I've got an avo panel filter and with the stock bov it sound louder then the gfb 100% plumb back

Turbosmart Kompact will fit under the cover. Its black, covert and looks nice. Straight replacement for the stock BOV and plumbs back neatly.
You can crack it open and add some washers into the piston to tighten it up, if you wish. With an intake its very audible.

If you just want the sound you can also try replacing the factory panel filter with a pod filter (preferably one with a box to shield it from the engine bay heat a little.
I had the Cobb tuning one and it the intake sound was pretty extreme, so much so I took it off (the atmo bov sound is not for me - high flow panel filter with the resonator removed gives as much sound as I'm willing to have)
That way you get the whoosh of the air sucking in and the bov sound.
If you are after that sound I'd definitely recommend it.
They can be had for arond the same price as a bov too, depending on what bov & intake you are looking at.
[Edit] I should also mention I have the GFB respons on 100% plumb back, not the stock bov, although for the purpose of intake sound I don't think it really matters much.
