Hey people

I bought a steel intake for my liberty but I'm having major issues with it.... i think i know what i did wrong but you guys can help me out.....

So i already knew the stock intake size piping is 2.75 inches, the only intake pipe i could find was 3.5 inches. I purchased it along with a 3.5 to 2.75 reducer and a 3.5 inch K&N pod.

I installed the intake and disconnected the battery to reset the ecu. Once i started the car, it refused to idle and had to be revved to keep an idle. The belts also started whining when the steering was turned and the steering wheel became heaps stiff.

The AFM was in the correct direction too, once i stripped the intake and put the stock stuff back it all went back to normal???

Could the fact that the piping was too large in Diameter cause this?

please help me out

Cheers

Christine

I think it would have been easier and possibly cheaper just to buy an intake kit designed for the Liberty GT :)

The AFM works by measuring air velocity - and all things being equal, the smaller the pipe diameter, the faster the air moves.
